- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS), Surveillance Research Program (CSRP), plan to continue to provide support The Network for Cancer Control Research among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Populations in partnership with the Mayo Clinic, Charlton 6, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, MN 55905 by providing support for the 6th National Conference in September 2004. The Network consists of senior researchers, both Native and non-Native, with experience working with Native communities across the country to conduct cancer control research. The Network also includes tribal officials and Native cancer survivors as well as ex-officio members from the Public Health Service. Every 2-3 years, the Network supports a national conference to examine cancer patterns in Native American communities. Through these conferences, researchers provide the results of their work to other scientists, community leaders and policy makers to promote further research and information exchange. The conference offers the opportunity to examine prevention strategies, those risk factors that are prominent within Native people's cultures, and the relationship of those risk factors with the common cancer sites. The conference promises to further public health goals related to cancer in Native communities, and will build upon recent progress in cancer projects that have been implemented in the past three years. The Mayo Clinic is the lead agency for the five-year, NCI-funded project that supports the Network for Cancer Control Research among American Indian and Alaska Native Populations (aka "Spirit of Eagles"), currently in its fourth year of funding. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the researcher to determine if the party has the connections and resources at the Network for Cancer Control Research among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) Populations . An original and one copy of the capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 p.m. EDT, on June 17, 2004. All questions must be in writing and can be faxed to (301) 402-4513 or emailed to dm170b@nih.gov . It is the vendor's responsibility to call (301) 402-4509 to insure questions have been received. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect call will be accepted. NAICS 541990, Size Standard 6M.
