Description
The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Institution, Gilmer, West Virginia, intends to make a single award for the provision of a Vocational Training Instructor for Diesel/Automotive Mechanical Systems. The contract shall consist of a 12 month base period and one 12 month option period for renewal. The estimated quantities for the base period and each option are as follows: A session is defined as one hour. Services are to be provided on a schedule mutually decided between the parties, and will not exceed 30 sessions per week. There is an estimated 1290 sessions (46 weeks times 5 days times 6 sessions per day). Duties include: Operate an accredited occupational technical program with certification issued by a vocational technical school, college or university which will be facilitated by a contractor that possesses the knowledge, skills and abilities to instruct inmates in a basic and advanced certification in automotive/diesel mechanics. Classes shall cover the basic strategies that will serve as an academic resource as well as an apprentice level job skill for potential job placement within a mechanical systems environment. The course of study shall be presented in a manner most conducive to learning and complimentary to the security of the correctional environment. Courses to be provided shall include: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification, Gasoline engines, diesel engines, drive train, brakes, suspension and steering, electrical and electronic systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and preventive maintenance. Qualifications required include: accredited or affiliated with a nationally accredited institution, staff providing service must be certified in the general field of post secondary education, with certification in the area of expertise. This is a non-personal services contract and not a personnel appointment. The solicitation is 100% set aside for small business. The solicitation will made available on or about June 22, 2004, and will be distributed solely through the General Administration?s Federal Business Opportunities website at http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available. The site provides downloading instructions. All future information regarding this acquisition, including solicitation amendments, will also be distributed solely through this site. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site to ensure that they have the most up to date information about this acquisition. The anticipated date for receipt of quotes is July 20, 2004. All responsible sources may submit a quote which will be considered.
