Description

The U.S. Coast Guard National Strike Force is soliciting quotes for a 3-day Maritime Salvage Course to be held September 8-10, 2004, in Mobile, Alabama. The course must be taught by at least 4 to 6 professional salvors with actual on-site, field experience with diverse maritime salvage operations within the 3-years (see requested topics). The course must address the following topics: (1) The Business of Salvage, (2) Vessel Casualty and Survey Assessments, (3) Vessel Strandings, (4) Vessel Sinkings and Capsizings, (5) Emergency Lightering, (6) Underwater Oil and Hazardous Material Removal, (7) Commercial Diving Operations, and (8) Vessel Collisions. Instructors must be professional salvors and provide actual case studies and lessons learned for each of the topics addressed. The audience will be composed of approximately 50 students from the Coast Guard's National Strike Force and various Coast Guard Marine Safety and District Offices. The cost estimate must include professional salvor fees, instructor/salvor travel fees, and all course materials. Course materials must include copies of all presentations, case studies and the U.S. Navy's Salvor's Handbook.
