Description
The notice is revised as follows: SOURCES SOUGHT ?????? This is not a request for proposals. Defense Contracting Command ?????? Washington on behalf of the Office of the Secretary of Defense is conducting a market survey in accordance with the Feder al Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10.001 to determine the extent of Small Business participation and capability to perform a requirement in support of the ??????Department of Defense STARBASE Program?????? in accordance with Federal law and Army regulat ions and policies. The NAICS code is 923110; there is no size standard. Small Business contractors are encouraged to comment on the statement of work (SOW), which follows below. The program is identified as follows: Section 2193b of title 10, United States Code authoriz es the Secretary of Defense to conduct a science, mathematics and technology education improvement program known as the ??????Department of Defense STARBASE program??????. Subparagraph (g) requires that the Secretary of Defense submit annually to the Cong ress a report on the program, covering its design and conduct, and evaluating its effectiveness. An initial report was performed for FY 2000. The objective of this requirement is to implement a programmatic reporting mechanism, and support strategy for exi sting STARBASE sites and new sites that are anticipated to be added each year; and to report to the Congress on the design, conduct, and effectiveness of the STARBASE program in increasing young peoples understanding and appreciation of math, science, and technology. Currently there are 49 existing STARBASE sites. It is anticipated that, subject to available funds, 2-4 new sites will be added each year during the period of performance of this contract. The intent is to issue one (1) solicitation with resulting award to one contractor for the aforementioned services. The requirement is for three (3) years: one (1) year base with two, one-year options. Capability statements should include a brief descript ion of your experience and that of your potential subcontractors (if available) as related to this type of work and your capability to obtain the necessary resources. The planned Request for Proposal (RFP) entitled ??????DoD STARBASE Program?????? is sche duled for release o/a 18 June 2004. The estimated amount of this program is $2 million dollars over the three years. Please identify your company as either small business, 8(a) or HUB Zone.
