Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Health Statistics, has a requirement for laboratory measurements on biologic specimens for plasma glucose, serum insulin, and glycohemoglobin from NHANES 2005-2008 participants. Single awards may result from this solicitation, with fixed-priced contract(s). All laboratory data must be comparable throughout the survey with the same laboratory and methods used. The contractor shall perform laboratory analysis for one or more of the following: glycohemoglobin, plasma glucose in fasting specimens using the hexokinase method and insulin in fasting specimens. Glycohemoglobin assessments must be tested from single whole blood specimens. The contractor must participate in the national glycohemoglobin standardization program. Insulin must use a single source of antibody for the entire study and the assay must be standardized to the WHO insulin standard. The contractor must document a between-run, among-run CV less than 5% for all three methods. Test results and quality control results must be supplied in machine-readable format no later than three (3) weeks after receipt of serum specimens. The contractor must have at least 24 months continuous experience in conducting analysis of glycohemoglobin, plasma glucose and insulin. Offerors must have a well-established quality assurance program. The contractor must document that the method used is a calibrated system with at least two years of quality control data. The period of performance will begin approximately January 2005 and continue through approximately June 2009. Request for proposal 2004-N-01194 will be open on an unrestricted basis to full and open competition. The solicitation will be issued on or about 4/14/2004 and proposals will be due on or about 5/14/2004.
