- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City intends to issue a sole source contract to the Nordic Ammunition Company (NAMMO) to provide Rapid Airborne Mine Clearance System (RAMICS) Spiral Developmental Test support. Test support will consist of NAMMO-manufactured RAMICS rounds being fired for data analysis and for evaluating product capabilities. Under the Evolutionary Acquisition Strategy, these tests are to examine an optional spiral development of RAMICS. Only NAMMO can provide the spiral development test support for the following reasons. RAMICS uses a specialized 30mm (MK258 Mod1) supercavitating armor-piercing fin stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) munitions to neutralize floating and moored mines. This 30mm supercavitating APFSDS is manufactured by Nordic Ammunition Company (NAMMO) and is an Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) program item. NAMMO is t he only contractor that can provide near-realistic test conditions, shared-resources, the experience to conduct deep underwater ballistic testing, data baseline, and proprietary knowledge of the MK258 Mod 1 munitions. Therefore, NAMMO is the only contractor that can successfully fulfill the Government’s requirements. NAICS Code 332992 applies. Size Standard is 1000 employees. FSC is 1305.
