- Description
- The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Radar Operations Center (ROC) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), with Concurrent Computer Corporation for the upgrade and modification of the Software Development System (SDS). The SDS is utilized by the Software Engineering Team of the ROC to provide critical support of the Weather Surveillance Radar 88 Doppler (WSR-88D) baseline software. In order to maintain many of the baseline functions for the WSR-88D system, continued compatibility with the media, data formats, databases, and programs are required. The Concurrent hardware and operating system is required to continue this support and must be upgraded to meet the existing support requirements. Upgrades to the system require the following tasks to be completed: 1. Replace old 3285 CPU with 3200-200 CPU with 10/100BaseT option. 2. Two SCSI controllers upgraded to the latest revision plus two (2) 18 GB Disk Drives, one (1) 40 GB DAT Tape and one (1) QIC Tape 150T Tape Drive with, if necessary, new SCSI enclosures. 3. Replace one (1) ?" Tape Drive 800/1600/6250 with one (1) refurbished ?" Tape Drive 800/1600/6250 compatible with Existing NOAA tapes. 4. Install Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to aid with power problems at ROC South. 5. Senior Software Engineer Hours to implement upgrade from O/S32 revision 8-3.1 to 10-1.2. 6. Senior Field Engineer Hours to implement hardware changes, including upgrades, cabinet reduction, and UPS installation. Based on our market research, Concurrent Computer Corporation is the only source available to provide this proprietary operating system. This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
