Description

Architect/Engineer to provide design services in full support of a project to completely remodel a previous nursing unit for use in providing medical care in support of an acute mental health care unit. Design work is anticipated to include up to 10,000 square feet of remodeled space, whereby the area will be totally demolished and rebuilt to provide for the new use, complete with all new finishes. HVAC work will include the installation of a complete new system to serve this area and the floor below, with the AHU located in the attic above the area being remodeled. All plumbing will be replaced as well as a new electrical distribution system and communication system. All design work shall be completed in accordance with VA Design Guides and Construction Standards. All design work shall be completed using the most current version of AutoCAD, with the exception of schematic designs used for discussions of alternatives. Design steps will include concept/schematic plans, design development, and construction documents. Design contract work to be completed to provide for a construction contract award by June 2005. Selection of a design firm shall be based on overall previous experience with these types of projects, and the ability to provide an acceptable design within the applicable time constraints. Design firms within 350 miles of Des Moines will be considered. Numbered Note 24.
