Description
LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS PARTNERSHIPS WITH INDUSTRY TO COMMERCIALIZE COMPACT ACCELERATOR Announcement: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to commercialize LLNL's improved compact accelerator technology. Existing moderate energy intense beam accelerators have relatively low accelerating gradients. LLNL is developing a new type of compact, intense beam accelerator. This technology may result in major cost advantages over existing accelerators. The compact nature of the accelerator architecture and the dramatic reduction in terms of space requirements is expected to make possible applications in the fields of lithography, materials treatment such as ion implantation and welding, cancer therapy, radiation sources for nondestructive testing and others. The potential improvements to existing accelerator technology include high accelerating gradient and intense beam capability. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Companies interested in commercializing LLNL's improved compact accelerator technology should provide a written statement of interest that includes: 1. Company name and address. 2. The name, address, and telephone number of a point of contact. 3. Description of corporate capabilities relevant to commercializing the technology. Written responses should be directed to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization P.O. Box 808, L-795 Livermore, CA 94551-0808 Attention: FBO 68-04. Please provide your written statement within thirty (30) days from the date this announcement is published to ensure consideration of your interest.
