Description: The solicitation and associated construction documents will be available at http://ideasec.nbc.gov on or about July 22, 2004. SOLICITATION NO.: Q5530040056 The project entails the sandblasting and painting of the Green River and Houchins Ferries at Mammoth Cave National Park. The ferries are approximately 60 feet long by 17 feet wide. They are 2 feet 8 inches deep. Specific items of work include removing the ferries from the Green river and moving them to the work site, performing hull inspections, sandblasting and painting the ferries, and launching them when the work is complete. Areas to be painted include the area below the waterline, the area above the waterline (including the interior of the operator cabin), and the application of anti-slip traction coating on the deck of the ferry. Work on either ferry cannot begin until after Labor Day and must be completed before Memorial Day 2005. This project does not include the painting of the interior of the hull. The National Park Service will award a single firm-fixed price contract to furnish all labor, materials, equipment and expertise necessary to perform all operations required for the successful completion of the above named project to the contractor offering the best value to the Government and will be awarded based on price and price related factors. PROJECT COST RANGE: $25,000 to $100,000 LOCATION: The construction site is located at Mammoth Cave National Park, P.O. Box 7, Mammoth Cave, KY 42259 (Edmonson County). Mammoth Cave National Park is located approximately half-way between Nashville, TN and Louisville, KY near Interstate 65 in Edmonson County. QUALITY ASSURANCE: A construction permit is not required, however, the contractor shall be experienced with work as described above, and the contractor shall show prior evidence of related work. The NAICS Code for this project is 238320 and the small business size standard is $12 million. This procurement is a Request for Quotes (RFQ) and is subject to the provisions of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions. A Pre-bid site inspection will be scheduled for all interested parties with the time and date to be announced in the Solicitation Instructions. FAR Clause 53.236-3, Site Investigation and Conditions affecting the Work, will be included in the contract. This clause places total responsibility on the contractor to investigate the project site.
