- PROJECT DESCRIPTION The USACE Marine Design Center intends to initiate an Invitation For Bid (IFB) procurement to obtain one inland river, all welded steel towboat for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District. The towboat shall be triple-screw, with three main engine s delivering approximately 1900-2000 HP total. The vessel dimensions shall be approximately 95 feet x 35 feet x 8 feet-4 inches. The primary mission of the towboat will be the year-round support of the crane barge CHOCTAWATCHEE and its repair mission. The mission geographical area includes Apalachicola-Chattahoochie-Flint River system and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway from Pensacol a, Florida to Apalachicola Bay. The vessel will operate in both shallow and drift-strewn rivers. A maximum vessel draft of 5feet-6 inches is required. The vessel shall be classed with ABS Maltese Cross A-1 Towing Vessel, River Service with Maltese Cross AM S. The IFB W912BU-04-B-0026 will be available on the Internet Web pages on or about 29 July 2004. Hard copies will not be available. No written or fax requests will be accepted. Contractors shall download this IFB (including drawings) and all amendments fr om the Internet Web Page at the following address https://ebs.nap.usace.army.mil on or after the issue date of the IFB. The official media of distribution for the IFB is the Internet Web Page. All amendments to this IFB will be posted to the Internet Web Page at the above address. Hard copies will not be furnished. It is the contractors responsibility to monitor the Web Page for any amendments. Interested contractors must register on the Internet Web Page. If any of the contractors information changes during the advertisement period, contractors are responsible to make changes to their user profile on the Internet Web Page.
