- The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity, 820 Chandler Steet, Fort Detrick, MD intends to negotiate a SOLE SOURCE procurement with the American Institutes for Research (AIR) for a project entitled, The Development of a Computer-Assisted De cision Support System for the Management of Patients with Diabetes Mellitus. AIR has unique resources to perform this work in that its staff has a significant number of years of experience in the directly related fields of diabetes and medical informatics and clinical decision support. The staff has previously initiated and extensively published related computer programs and algorithms in the field of diabetes, and will be expanding the already established software and algorithms to include new types of insulin, adjustment of doses, and choice of regimen for patients being treated by a combination of oral agents and insulin, or with oral agents alone. This is a SOLE SOURCE procurement under the authority of FAR 6.203-1 and is not a request for competitiv e quotes. However, responses received from other responsible businesses prior to the close of business on 22 July 2004 will be evaluated.
