Description

The U. S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals from prequalified general contractors only to repair approximately 714,000 square feet of roof, expansion joints, and skylights, per plans and specifications, at the Santa Clarita Processing & Distribution Center (P&DC), 28201 Franklin Parkway, Santa Clarita, CA 91383-9997. The licensed contractor selected will provide and is responsible for all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, disposal, supervision, supplies, and obtain all necessary permits to complete the project. Additionally, proposals must document AHERA certification, experience and references on a minimum of three (3) comparable projects and a statement on how the contractor will accomplish the work. Construction cost is estimated at $228,303 to $238,500.00. The expected performance period is sixty (60) days after notice to proceed. A pre-proposal on-site conference is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at 9:30 A.M. at the main lobby of the Santa Clarita P & DC. Attendance is mandatory for all prospective offerors. Interested offerors must contact Mr. Mike Sisson at (661) 775-6542 at least 24 hrs. prior to the conference. Offerors are encouraged to review the project specifications/drawings and postal requirement prior to the on-site walk-through. To submit a proposal, please complete and return pages 1 and 2; Section L; and Attachment 4 - Schedule of Values and the requested documentation and information specified above. The proposal must specify a sum certain fixed price for the complete project that includes offeror’s overhead, profit, bonds, insurance, and all other contingencies. No allowance for such items will be made after contract award. Offers will not be publicly opened. All proposal information will remain confidential until award. Pursuant to the Miller Act, a contract award will be contingent upon receipt of valid performance and payment bonds, from the awardee, each in an amount equal to the full contract price. This solicitation is being issued pursuant to the authority of the U. S. Postal Service Purchasing Manual, Issue 2 dated 1/31/02. The Postal Service is committed to maximum involvement of minority and woman-owned businesses in this project. Contractors are strongly encouraged to develop an aggressive MBE/WBE subcontracting plan.
