Description
In accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration Acquisition Management System (FAA AMS) 3.2.2.4- Single Source Selection Procurement Process, Subpart 3.2.2.4.1.2, the announcement is to inform industry of the FAAs intent to contract with a selected firm using single source procedures. The FAA intends to purchase a Full Flight Simulator of a B-767-231 aircraft from the American Airlines Training Center in Bridgeton, Mo. The simulator is designated by the FAA Identification number 31, and was qualified to Certification Level C in May 2004. The Full Flight Simulator is characterized by a six-degree of freedom motion platform, and 150 degree (H) x 45-degree (V) field of view panoramic visual system. The visual system is equipped with databases for 9 airports, and is capable of day/dusk/night operation by virtue of a three-channel raster/calligraphic projection system. This procurement includes testing the simulator and certifying its condition in Bridgeton prior to its removal from the American Facility; shipping FOB destination; assembly and installation of the simulator at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and retesting. In order to be accepted, the simulator shall demonstrate, through the retesting, that it has at least equivalent functionality to its condition prior to disassembly and location at Bridgeton. The FAA plans to use the simulator in its research, engineering, and development programs of national airspace systems, procedures, and equipment. This acquisition shall not exceed $600,000.
