- The Naval Network Warfare Command and PEO Ships Smartship Program Office are sponsoring Navy Wireless Networks Summit II to be held in San Diego, California on August 17-19, 2004. Summit II will build on the success of the first Naval Wireless Networks Summit held at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab in December 03. This summit established the framework for identifying: (1) technical issues associated with Naval wireless networks, (2) applications and opportunities for test and evaluation, (3) the need for developing a Community of Interest (COI) focused on advancing wireless technologies within the entire Naval enterprise for continuing efforts This announcement is the official request for participation by vendors who provide wireless network or related products that may be of interest to the Naval community. The open period for this announcement is from July 19, 2004 through July 30, 2004. As part of this effort, an Industry Day will be held on Wednesday, August 18th from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM. The purpose of the Industry Day is to provide a forum for vendors with wireless products to demonstrate or discuss their products with key Navy and DoD decision makers. There will also be presentations and panel discussions in three tracks devoted to subjects relevant to wireless technologies in a Naval context. For the purpose of this announcement, participation entails supporting a booth or table display of current and/or planned relevant products. Approximately forty vendor displays can be accommodated. Exhibitor slots have been reserved according to different categories of products as described below. When requesting to participate, vendors MUST indicate the category for which they are applying. Vendors may indicate a se cond and third category option if products are suitable for those categories, but secondary or tertiary preferences will only be considered if all slots are not filled by the end of the announcement period. Categories and slots available are as follows: Wireless Network Infrastructure. Access Points, client cards & drivers. Primarily for products with an RF component. Not for wireless switches with no RF element. ? 10 slots Security Products. Security software, wireless security switches, wireless intrusion detection/prevention software/systems. ? 10 slots Wireless Peripherals. Antennas, client devices, etc. ? 10 slots Wireless Wide Area Network Products. Cellular data services/products, satellite data services/products, etc. ? 5 slots Wireless Applications. Design tools, installation tools, other products or services not covered by other categories. ? 5 slo ts There is a particular interest not just in current technology but also in next generation technology that may be available in the near future. Vendors are encouraged to provide information or exhibits of upcoming or planned products. Vendors with products that meet stringent DoD and Navy requirements are particularly encouraged to participate. Applicants who meet the criteria for a category will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Once the announcement period is over, any slots remaining will be assigned based on the secondary and tertiary categories, or as space is available. Any costs for participation are the responsibility of the vendor. Vendors are required to contact the conference center for equipment or services. However, vendors may not initiate the process for configuring a space at the event until their participation has been confirmed by o ne of the designated government contacts. Information on whom to contact to make arrangements for your display will be provided with confirmation of your attendance. Vendors interested in participating should submit a request with descriptions of the products/services to be displayed, how they can fulfill DoD/Navy requirements or needs and the primary category under which they wish to be considered. As above, a second and third category may be indicated, if appropriate.
