- Description
- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Nuclear, Science and Technology, Isotope Program intends to solicit a proposal and negotiate a sole source purchase of a Type B, Croft Safeshield 2999A radioactive shipping container, including detailed drawings of the shipping container and descriptive operating and maintenance instruction manuals. The Isotope Program also plans to request an option for an additional Safeshield shipping container, and an option for spare parts. The Croft Safeshield 2999A radioactive shipping container will be licensed by the Department of Energy specifically to transport the entire spectrum of isotopes that will be produced at the new Los Alamos Isotope Production Facility (IPF) to the technical area of Los Alamos National Laboratory where the material will be processed. No other Type B shipping container is or is in the process of becoming licensed to transport this spectrum of isotopes. The container must be delivered to the Los Alamos National Laboratory of Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico by July 15, 2005. See Number Note 22. Interested parties having all the capabilities to perform the services described above are requested to send in its capability statement, limited to not more than 25 pages. Responses must be submitted via the Department of Energy; Industry Interactive Procurement System (IIPS) at the following internet address http://doe-iips.pr.doe.gov/ no later 3:00 p.m. on September 10, 2004. Contractors must register via the IIPS web site prior to responding to this Notice of Intent. Instruction on how to submit your response can be found in the help document, which is located at http://doe-iips.pr.doe.gov/.
