- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a sole source purchase order to Dr. Pedro Romero in conjunction with the University of Utah for Research on the Quantifying Segregation. Dr. Romero will collect data to be analyzed for a regional pooled funds study. The purpose of the research is to develop a systematic method to measure segregation, and to detect long-term pavement performance. The research conducted will also assist State Transportation Departments (STD) determine if the capital investment needed to move from nuclear gauges to electro-magnetic gauges would be beneficial. Dr. Romero will conduct testing on non-nuclear devices in addition to material samplings. Dr. Romero?s has the expertise, history, and knowledge of the nuclear gauges and is the only known source with the required experience to conduct the services and perform the research. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about August 9, 2004.
