- Description
- The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is conducting sources sought synopsis to locate organizations providing services to plan, coordinate and promote National Primary Care Week (NPCW) 2005 across the Nation at health professions training programs. The purpose of National Primary Care Day was to provide an opportunity for a national celebration of generalist physicians in order to emphasize their continued important roles in our health care delivery system, recognize their contribution to health and society, and help raise the image and status of primary care careers. Students worked with faculty and administrators to organize activities and increase support for primary care. During its four-year existence, the annual NPCD activities increased the visibility of primary care careers while highlighting the depth and breadth of the primary care and generalist disciplines at academic health centers and medical campuses across the United States The new initiative has continued to build on the strengths of past experience, include all health professions students, and collaborate with organizations that have a vested interest in primary care. The initiative is consistent with the HRSA mission to ensure a quality workforce to meet the health needs of the nation, especially those of vulnerable populations. HRSA is committed to education and training of primary care physicians and other health professionals. Having adequate numbers of health professionals prepared in primary care is crucial to improving access to health care. The support from a variety of professional and educational discipline-specific primary care organizations further ensures the potential benefits of NPCW activities.
