Description
Reproduction Iron 6 pounder with Gribeauval Carriage Material used in casting the cannon tube will be Class 30 or better Ductile Iron. Bore: Will be sleeved wih seamless steel. Contractor will be required to show documentation that the sleeve is seamless and that class 30 or better iron was used. Bore will be free of gouges, holes, voids, cracks, burrs and other imperfections. Bore wil be terminated by a plane perpendicular to the axis, united with the sides (in profile) by an arc of a circle, the radius of which is one-fourth the diameter of the bore at the bottom. Bore will be of uniform diameter its entire length. Tube: Will be solid cast and bored. Tube will not be cast with liner in place. Liner thickness must be 3/8 inch minimum. The internal breech of the steel sleeve must consist of an appropriate radius steel plug, pressed into place and secured in the sleeve with a deep fillet weld around the circumference exterior surface of the plug. Exterior Finish: There will be no gouges, holes, voids, cracks, burrs or other imperfections on the exterior of the tube. Trunnion: Diameter must not exceed measurement of original design. Vent and Vent Piece: The vent will be in a vertical plane passing through the axis of the bore making an angle of 80 degrees. The vent enters the bore at a distance from the bottom equal to 1/4th of the diameter of the bore. The diameter of the vent is .25 inches Marking: The tube and carriage will not be marked by the manufacturer in any way. Carraige: The Carriage willbe Gribeauval stle made of oak nad ash wood with appropriate iron work. Iron work will be painted black and wood will be painted light blue.
