Description
The Mineral Resources Program, of the U.S.Geological Survey, Reston, Virginia, has a requirement for the preparation of a database of mineral locations and characteristics for publication on the WEB and CD-ROM. The project seeks to publish the database on CD/DVD and on the internet. The task entails comparing the original data (pre-merger)with the current data and entering corrections as necessary. The ecconomic data must be analyzed and interpeted with respect to current economic-geology standards, including chemical and mineroological terminology, grade, tonage units and quantifiers, rock formation names, rock lithological types, historical facts accuracy checked etc. Faithful reproduction of the original data involves filling in details garnered from comments fields, or by using geologic knowledge to surmise missing data. This work may also involve modifying the existing software applications, creating new applications,or designing software modifications to be implemented by permanent MRDS staff. Skils required: Bachelor's degree in Geology and general computer knowledge. Knowledge of framemaker and Oracle dbms is desired but not required.USGS will supply the necessary office space, computer and software for (1) one worker at Reston or Denver. In preparation for publication on the web and CD-ROM, data in the following tables faithfully converted from old to new database, cover as many records as possible. TASK 1: Production,Production Details, TASK 2: Resources,Resources Details, TASK 3: Rocks (Host Rock Type, Host Rock Unit Name,Associated Rock Type,Associated Rock Unit Name), TASK 4: Ages(Ages of Rocks Above and Age of Mineralization), TASK 5: Application Development ( minor modifications to software tools as necessary). Goverment estimated hours ( 1,820) .Progress acceptance will be measured by direct comparison of corrected tables with the incomplete tables in their current state. Payment will be made on a monthly basis. Estimated period of performance one year from date of award. Evaluation criteria: (1) Technical Factors (2) Price.
