Description

The Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forest is seeking proposals for the reconstruction of 24 km of Forest Service recreation trail on the Methow Valley Ranger District. Work includes existing trail restoration, grade dips, switchbacks, waterbars, turnpikes, culvert installation, root and rock removal, logging out, hazard tree felling, trail closure, trail relocation. Wilderness rules apply so no motorized equipment (including wheelbarrows) will be allowed. Blasting may be required. Contractor shall be licensed in State of Washington, Labor and Industries, to conduct blasting. The project can be reached from Winthrop, Okanogan County, Washington, by heading the West Chewuch Road until it turns into forest road 51. Follow this road to the end of the pavement, and the Andrews Creek Trail, approximately 23 miles north of Winthrop. The project begins at the trailhead and continues through the Farewell Fire area, approximately 24 kilometers. All work completed by September 15, 2005 or as proposed by contractor. Estimated price range is between $100,000 to $250,000. 100% Performance and Payment Bonds due after award.
