Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) intends to issue a modification to effect a 2-year no-cost extension to the contract thereby extending the ordering period through Sepember 29, 2006. Contract No. 50-DGNR-9-90041 initially included a 12-month base year, plus four one-year option periods. This is a cost reimbursable (no fee) type contract to support NOAA's Resident Research Associateship Program to provide opportunities for senior and postdoctoral scientists of unusual promise and ability to work on problems that are compatible with the interests of NOAA. The National Academy of Sciences is uniquely qualified to conduct the Program because it draws from over 9,000 volunteer scientists, engineers, and other professionals in its committee system. The National Academy of Sciences is uniquely qualified to assemble individuals with the level of experience and expertise required to provide assessments and the ranking of research proposals from prospective awardees under the program. The government reserves the right to not open this requirement to competition solely for the purposes of determinig whether to conduct a competitve procurement. Any interested firm must submit clear and convincing written data to the attention of Ms. P.L. Artis, at the header address substantiating its capability to furnish this requirement within fifteen days from publication of this notice. NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE is available.
