- Description
- Project work consists of removing shoals along the Entrance Channel Cut-1N. The contract will require the removal of approximately 205,000 cubic yards of material from Cut-1N between Station 100+00 and Station 220+00 with beach placement at the desi gnated beach disposal area located along the beach at the north end of Fernandina Beach (approximately 4 miles from the project site). The contract will also require the removal of approximately 20,000 cubic yards of material from Cut-1N between Station 2 20+00 and Station 230+00 (north half of channel) with placement in the designated nearshore disposal area, D/A-N, located approximately 7 miles from the project site. Finally, the contract will require the removal of approximately 745,000 cubic yards of m aterial from Cut-1N between Station 220+00 and Station 230+00 (south half of channel) and Station 230+00 and Station 340+00 with placement in the designated ocean disposal area, D/A-O, located approximately 12 miles from the project site. Total quantity o f material to be dredged is approximately 970,000 cubic yards. This work is restricted to coast guard certified hopper dredges in accordance with the Safety Management Action Plan (SMAP). In addition, hopper dredges will only be allowed to work during the period of 15 December through 28 February. Work also includes sea turtle trawling and relocation, turbidity monitoring, and endangered species monitoring. Total Performance Period is 100 calendar day s which includes 30 days mobilization. Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. The solicitation will be issued on or about August 26, 2004 and bids will be due on or about October 21, 2004.
