Description
Work for Cairo Floodwall Renovations consists of the following: Removing an 8-inch layer of material from the top of all monoliths and knee walls, and replacing it with 4-inches of compacted base course and a 4 inch concrete cap. The City of Cairo will be responsible for providing locations for the contractor to dump the removed material. Removal of nine light poles mounted in the monolithic cells and installing 6 new light poles with buried conduit. All metal handrails will be removed and replaced with new at the 2nd Street observatory. New handrails will also be installed on the concrete on the riverside staircase at 2nd Street. All exposed metal surfaces will be cleaned, restored to working order, and repainted. Concrete steps will be constructed for the knee wall, observation steps will be constructed at the at the 2nd Street observatory, and the riverside staircase will have a broken section replaced. All joint seals will be replaced. All cracks and spalls will be repaired. All painted surfaces on the wall will be sand blasted clean. All concrete wall surfaces will be pressure washed clean, covered with a cementitious coating, and sealed with non-vapor-barrier coating. Historical signs and high water marks will be preserved, and all signs mounted to the wall will be removed during construction and reinstalled afterwards. All monolith numbers will be painted along the wall at each end of each monolith on riverside and landside. River gage sign frame will be refurbished. Two permanent reinforced concrete stoplog closures will be constructed. The estimated value of the proposed work is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. This will be an unrestricted procurement with Price Evaluation for HUBZone small business concerns. For the purpose of this procurement to qualify as a small business co ncern, in addition to being independently owned and operated and not dominate in the field of operation in which it is bidding on Government contracts, the concern must have had average annual sales receipts for the preceding three fiscal years not exceedi ng $28.5 million. The supplies or services to be procured in this solicitation are classified under NAICS 237990. Bid opening for this solicitation will be on or about 21 September 2004.
