Description
MACHINE GUN WEAPON OPTIC Market Survey Announcement Description The U.S. Army TACOM, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, office of the Program Manager Soldier Weapons is seeking sources to provide the following: Machine Gun Weapon Optic ? Optic System to be used for and mount to the M60, M249, and M240B automatic weapon system and has the following characteristics: The device shall have a magnification of 3.5x (+/-0.5x), contain a lighted reticle with bullet drop compensation lines out to 1200 meters, manually adjustable brightness, incorporate an Anti Reflection Device, and a LASER Filter Unit or is compatible to be fitted with a LASER eye protection filter and allows engagement out to 1200 meters. The specification for the optical laser filter is Government classified at the SECRET level. This specification is only available to US and Canadian companies with a SECRET facility clearance. The scope must be mountable on MIL-STD-1913 rail system, and maintain zero retention during and after weapon firing. Optic must be able to withstand the rigors of use in a military environment and maintain zero during extended periods of use. Power source must be commonly available or found on a standardized list of military batteries. Battery life must be comparable to the current M145 Machine Gun Optic. Please advise if your product is a Commercially available item, Proprietary and/or classified, information will be protected as denoted with submission. Interested firms should submit literature/brochures not exceeding twenty (20) pages describing their technical capabilities, item design details and operational characteristics, production capability (monthly sustainable production rate). This Market Survey is for information and planning purposes only, does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP), and is not to be construed as a commitment by the U. S. Government. The Government implies not intention or opportunity to acquire funding to support current or future development efforts. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this Market Survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this market survey. Respondents will not be notified of the results of this survey or results of information submitted. Please submit your responses no later than September 3, 2004.
