- Description
- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items or services prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is issued as a Request for Quote (RFQ) No. 481039. These solicitation clauses and provisions are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-27. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for this acquisition is 8733 and the North American Classification System (NAICS) Code is 541710. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) intends to issue a purchase order on a sole source basis to NimbleGen Systems to provide proprietary maskless array synthesis (MAS) for a customized high-density chip delivery for 12-plex arrays for an enteric viruses project. The following FAR Clauses shall apply to this solicitation: 52.212 Instructions to Offerors-Commercial; 52.214-4 Contract Terms and Conditions-Commercial Items; and 52.232-33 Electronic Funds Transfers. All responsible sources that can provide and meet the above requirements shall submit written quotations by the due date referenced above. The award is being issued on a sole source basis because 1) NimbleGen Systems? proprietery manufacturing process gives NimbleGen the ability to redesign each individual array as necessary and allows us to ultimately create an optimized enteric virus screening array; NimbleGen provides high-density oligo arrays with flexible design capabilities on a chip-per-chip basis. 2) Nimblegen is the sole-soure provider of multi-well, high-density microarrays (12-well, 4-well, and single-well) that provides the ability to screen multiple independent samples in parallel on a single chip. This option is an absolute necessity for our research as it provides us the ability to conveniently screen many more biological samples than would be possible without this multi-well option. 3) NimbleGen has microscope slides that make their arrays compatible with our microarray scanning equipment, the Axon 4000B microarray scanner. All questions should be submitted in writing via e-mail to TONEILL@OC.FDA.GOV or fax to 301-827-7101. FAR provisions can be found at the following website: http://www/arnet.gov.
