- Description
- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is planning on making award to San Jose Ste University Foundation and partnering iwth the CA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife along with the University of California, Davis. The goal of this project is to evaluate whether repeated applications of mosquito adulticides have cumulative effects on water quality and invertebrate communities in wetlands. Three wetland cells adjacent to the most frequently utilized adulticide application on the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge will be used to monitor invertebrate response to repeated mosquito control applications. These will be the same units where water and sediment samples are taken. Three similar wetland cells on Delevan National Wildlife Refuge, where no mosquito abatement activity occurs, will be matched to treated sites as closely as possible in terms of vegetation, flooding date, and depth. Initial water and sediment samples will assess whether source water is contaminated at the sites. The San Jose Foundation was part of the original project with the above mentioned programs and they are able to provide samples that no other entity has. This is not a notice for competitive process but vendors are able to reply to this announcement within 7 days from the date of this notice.
