- Contractor to provide healthcare resources in accordance with Public Law 104.262, 38 U.S.C. 8153 and VAAR Part 873. . Contractor agrees to provide a Orthopedic Physician at the VA Medical Center, 4815 Assembly, Spokane WA. 99205. Orthopedic Physician shall be Board Certified in Orthopedic Medicine. Orthopedic Physician (s) must be able to start on September 20, 2004. Physician must be able to start on September 20, 2004. If candidate is not available to start on September 20, 2004, offeror will be determined non-responsive, if after award it is determined candidate cannot start on September 20, 2004, contract shall be terminated for cause and award shall be made to next lowest offer. Price is an all-inclusive rate of per diem, travel, and price/cost. If the Offeror is submitting more than one physician to cover the terms and conditions of this contract, you shall submit a schedule along with your quote indicating the time frames that each physician will be scheduled to work. Providers will need to be scheduled for orientation/training prior to the start of their weekday shift, at the government?s expense. * Process of determining contract award: VAMC Spokane award preference will be as follows: 1) award to the lowest-priced responsive, responsible bidder who offers a Board Certified candidate in Orthopedic Medicine, 2) if no qualified bidder offers a candidate who is Board Certified in Orthopedic Medicine, then award to the lowest-priced responsive, responsible bidder who offers a Non-Board Certified candidate in Orthopedic Medicine. The contractor will furnish a surgeon who is board Certified in Orthopedic medicine. The physician will be treating adult/geriatric patients with a variety of acute and chronic orthopedic conditions. This individual will be the sole orthopedic provider in addition to a orthopedic Physician Assistant. The Spokane VAMC is a 38 bed general medicine, surgery and behavioral health hospital. The ER accepts no trauma patients, as these patients are diverted to local tertiary facilities. The outpatients departments see approximately 18,000 unique patients/year. The facility gets approximately 10-20 acute fractures/year. Joint replacement privileges are a must. The orthopedic surgeon will be expected to perform duties in the Same Day surgery area, as well as the main OR. Clinic is currently set up 2 days/week, with an average of 15-20 clinic patients seen/day. This includes a combination of new patient consults and follow-up patients. Operating room time is set aside for orthopedics two days/week, with an average weekly case load of 5 cases/week.No call will be required for this position, other than routine post-op follow-up on their own patients. Tours of duty is Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. No Weekends, Holidays or after-hours call. NAICS Code 621111/$8.5 million applies.
