Description
NO PREFERENCE PROGRAM. . At the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Ute Mountain Ute Agency, Court of Indian Offenses, CFR Court, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, Towaoc, Colorado, Chief Magistrate will: (1) Review and screen all criminal adult/juvenile complaints and analyze criminal investigations for prosecution merit and prepare for and prosecute criminal and juvenile cases, including wildlife and traffic violations over which the CFR Court has jurisdiction; (2) Representing Officer (Attorney-at-Law) for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Social Services Department in abuse, neglect, delinquency and involuntary commitments cases in the CFR Court; (3) Assist the United States Attorney and the Montezuma County District Attorneys in all criminal matters; Provide two (4) hours per month training for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Ute Mountain Ute Agency, Law Enforcement Services staff. Training schedule to be approved by the Contracting Officer; (5) Prosecute all criminal complaints filed with the CFR Court; (6) Conduct legal research to prepare for case hearings; (7) Work a maximum of a 32-hour week. During the 32-hour work week, perform Prosecutorial duties, i.e., prosecuting criminal defendants/juvenile offenders, and work with the Public Defender, CFR court personnel, therapists, counselors, Federal probation officers, and various professionals who have official business with the CFR Court; (8) Coordinate work schedule with the CFR Court Administrator, Court Clerks, Public Defender and CFR Court; (9) Be required to attend and participate in training seminars, workshops and conferences that directly relate to prosecutorial services; (10) Work independently performing prosecutorial duties with limited supervision, including, maintaining a case load of active cases to be adjudicated in the CFR Court or the Southwest Intertribal Court of Appeals; (11) Be responsible for fulfilling the requirements of the contract.
