- Description
- The USDA Forest Service is seeking proposals for aerial photography, imaging, and analytical services for a reach of the Cheoah River in Graham County, North Carolina. The reach of interest is located between Santeetlah Dam and the Cheoah River?s confluence with the Little Tennessee River and extends for approximately 9.3 miles. The study area is largely encompassed by the ?Tapoco? 1:24,000 scale USGS topographic quadrangle map. The imaging will be used to document and evaluate baseline conditions of instream and riparian river habitats prior to the implementation of a new flow regime and certain instream restoration measures. The imaging and analyses may be repeated in the future to evaluate change following implementation of those measures. The Cheoah River is approximately 100 to 150 feet in width and riparian areas of interest would generally extend approximately 300 feet beyond the river channel on each side of the river. The study area is located at an elevation of approximately 1,100 to 1,750 feet in mountainous terrain, and the Cheoah River is in a deeply incised valley.
