- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT, FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) seeks information from firms capable of providing a Future Common Display System (FCDS) in support of the United States Navy. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code applicable to this requirement is 334111 with a size standard of 500. The scope of work required would consist of the development and manufacture of a small family of common display consoles. These consoles would be primarily for use in new combat system designs on new ship platforms, but could be used in backfit applications as well. The requirement includes a Future Common Display focusing on Human Systems Integration facilitated by the use of an Open Architecture Computing Environment (OACE) which will service total ship combat and non-combat processing needs that can be utilized aboard any ship platform. THIS IS NOT A NOTICE OF SOLICITATION ISSUANCE, BUT RATHER, A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION from industry that will allow the Government to identify interested sources capable of meeting the requirement. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) will host an industry day briefing at the Crystal City, VA Hilton, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on 4 August 2004, to describe the Government?s requirements for the Future Combat Display System, and to answer questions from industry on the FCDS effort. Seating is limited, therefore, only individuals who pre-register will be guaranteed seating. Advance notification of attendance is required, no later than the close of business on August 4, 2003. Potential offerors are requested! to provide, subsequent to the briefing, written ideas and information addressing possible technologies and potential acquisition strategies. The information sought herein is for planning purposes only and should not be construed as a request for proposal (RFP) or as any obligation or commitment on the part of the Government to acquire any product or service. There shall be no basis for claims against the Government as a result of any information submitted in response to this RFI. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI, or otherwise pay for any information submitted by respondents to this request***** Document Type: Modification to a Previous Presolicitation Notice Description: Potential offerors are now encouraged to provide written ideas and information addressing possible technologies and potential acquisition strategies for the Future Common Display System (FCDS) effort. Information submitted in response to this request should not include data that is proprietary. The Navy intends to post the data received on the proposed FCDS website as discussed at the FCDS Industry Day briefing on 04 August 04.
