Description
Please See NOTE 22. The US Army has undertaken the task to fully deploy the Army Golden Master (AGM) across the entire United States Army network infrastructure via the previously awarded software release management services contract, which was in s upport of the Armys MS Enterprise License Agreement (MS ELA) contract. The AGM establishes a consistent hardened desktop and server image, consisting of specific MS products, to be leveraged by all organizations in the Army. A single AGM provides increa sed manageability and security to the Army. The US Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM)/Enterprise Systems Technology Activity (ESTA) will ensure the deployed solution is integrated across the Army enterprise, then manage, operate and provi de continue improvement and configuration management of the AGM. MS has provided consulting services to various Army commands and activities for the deployment and maintenance of MS solutions for many years. MS obviously is in a unique position to provid e support to NETCOM/ESTA AGM effort to include priorities such as Windows XP and Office 2003 deployment. MS consulting services will focus on assisting NETCOM/ESTA in streamlining the workstation/server build and imaging process, workstation-hardening pro cess, and data migration process for legacy workstations migrating to the new platform.Since the services to be rendered under this contract requires direct access to MS S/W source code, key business processes and scheduled new product release dates, any e ffort to obtain competition would not be successful. No other vendor has access to MS S/W source code, key business processes and scheduled new product release dates other than MS itself. Microsoft consultants will provide world-class technical expertise , enterprise experience and project management skills during the envisioning, planning, developing, stabilization and implementation phases of this effort. Inclusion of MS increases the likelihood of successful implementation of the over all AGM goals and objectives. The proposed source (Microsoft) is the only source that can provide the service required by the U.S. Army. Furthermore, MS is the only vendor that has provided written or verbal interest in this effort. To date, no other sources have express ed written or verbal interest.
