Description
Requesting a Plastic Lumber for Albeni Falls, Old Town, ID. Go to the following address for all available project information: http://www.nws.usace.army.mil/ct/ebs/AdvertisedSolicitations.asp. Offerors are responsible for checking the referenced pag e for any update(s) to the solicitation. The website is occasionally inaccessible due to maintenance. The Government is not responsible for any loss of Internet connectivity or lack of access to the document posted at the referenced website. The equipme nt required is Plastic Lumber for Albeni Falls, Old Town, and ID. It is important for performance and consistency that the following specifications be required as a minimum. The plastic lumber is for dock maintenance. 1. Product must be made from decontami nated and purified High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). Nominal mechanical properties of a 2x6 board @ 700 should be: Density: .025 - .0275 lb/cu in or greater. Test method: ASTM D6111 Coefficient of thermal expansion: .000055 in/in/0F or less. Test method: ASTM D6341 2. Must be highly resistant to UV degradation with a UV stabilizer incorporated into the finished product. Must be resistant to oil, fuel, insects, fungi and other environmental stresses. Product most also not be effected by water or moisture. 3. Product must exhibit tight dimensional tolerance and controlled density. Must not have cavities in the plastic larger than 1/32 in diameter. Cell structure must tight in order to insure that mechanical fasteners hold properly. Minimum withdrawal for #10 x 11/2 screw shall 90 lbs. Test method: ASTM D6117 7 Modulus of elasticity (@ 1% strain) shall be 114,000 psi. Test method: ASTM D6109 Ultimate flexural stress (@ 3% strain) shall be 2300 psi. Test method: ASTM D6109 Allowable flexural stress shall be 1200 psi. Test method ASTM D6109 4. Pigmentation must be uniform and consistent throughout the product. The specifications will be available with the solicitation. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 321213, which is matched to SIC code 2491. The solicitation will be available for download on or about 30 August 2004.
