The United States Marine Corps has a requirement for procurement and delivery of a maximum of 200 Cranes, Clamshells, slings, contractor logistics support, technical manuals, training aids and operator/maintainer training on an unrestricted basis. This effort will be pursued as a comercial item purchase, ID/IQ contract pursuant to FAR 2.1, which provides the standard definition of a commercial item. Standard practices for ?Acquisition of Commerical Items?, as set forth at FAR 12.203, will be applied throughout the process. Additionally, the contractor shall provide the requisite program management and logisitcs support to ensure that delivery schedules, performance requirements and worldwide supportability of the crane is accomplished as set forth in the contract. The RFP will be issued on or about 30 September 2004. The Crane is a replacement for the existing High Speed High Mobility (HSHM) Crane, which has reached the end of it economical service life. Essentially, the Crane is a rubber tired, hydraulic boom, crane capable of lifting and swinging at least 60,000 pounds. Also, the crane shall have a minimal acceptable speed of 45mph and at least a 60 inch fording depth. The crane will be utilized to support construction tasks, as-well-as loading and unloading, supplies, and equipment. It will be used to load/unload break bulk cargo from a fixed port or pier; on and off airfield runways; and over unprepared and uneven surfaces. It must also be capable of being driven over primary and secondary highways, to include sand, snow, and mud.
