Description
NA The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head, MD. (NSWCIH) intends to award a Sole Source Purchase Order to Dynasen Incorporated. The procurement will consist of producing and supplying gauges and ionization pins. The requested gauges will be used to measure pressures in explosives during gun experiments, during which a projectile impacts a piece of explosive and produces a shock wave, which then increases the pressure in the explosive. The ionization pins are electrical pins that are inserted into explosive charges where the pin will electrically short and produce a signal. Specifications of the gauges and ionization pin are as follows: Item 1. Low Impedance Manganin Pressure Gauges - 0.050 Ohm Nominal Resistance - Encapsulation must be 0.005? thick FEP Teflon. Gauges must be encapsulated in Sheets so that ?gauge paddle? assemblies can be made that are 3? in diameter and that leads extend 1.25? from the 3? diameter paddle sections. Gauges must be constructed with a hot! laminating process. Gauge leads other than active area must be copper plated. Gauges must have two current leads and two signal leads. Gauges must be made of etched Teflon to facilitate gluing to target. Gauges must measure pressure to 400 kbar. Government will have the choice to make gauges out of 0.001? manganin foil supplied by NSWC IH or use 0.001? foil supplied by the manufacturer. Item 2. 50 Ohm Manganin Pressure Gauges - 50 Ohm Nominal Resistance - Encapsulation must be 0.001? thick FEP Teflon. Gauges must be encapsulated in Sheets so that ?gauge paddle? assemblies can be made that are 3? in diameter and that leads extend 1.25? from the 3? diameter paddle sections. Gauges must be made of etched Teflon to facilitate gluing to target. Gauges must measure pressure to 100 kbar. Item 3. Ionization pins of 0.32? in diameter to measure detonation velocity in explosives. Center pin must be centered at pin face. Connector must be furnished to connect to 50 ohm imped! ance coax cable. Cable will be stripped to provide a 1? pig tail. Pin length will be 1.5 inches. Approximate issue date of this Purchase Order is 17 Sept 04. For information regarding this synopsis, you may contact Willy B. Quiambao who can be reached at (301) 744-6789 or email quiambaowb@ih.navy.mil. This solicitation is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FPO) page located at http://www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronics Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command.
