Description
The U.S. Army, TACOM-ARDEC has a requirement for an initial quantity of 3,920 M249 Collapsible Buttstock Assemblies to be procured in FY05. In addition there may be two subsequent options with a potential of either 1,000 ? 2,000 or 2,001 ? 4,000 Collapsible Buttstock Assemblies per option. The Collapsible Buttstock Assembly replaces the standard buttstock of the M249 Machine Gun. The Collapsible Buttstock contains the same hydraulic buffer as the standard buttstock and is adjustable in length. Users can reduce the length of the buttstock to make the weapon more ergonomic especially when wearing body armor and in close quarter combat situations. The item is envisioned to be mostly NC machine fabricated. It also requires molded plastic parts. The materials to be used in fabrication include 302, 631 and 303 series Stainless Steel, 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy, 1137-1144 Carbon Steels and Dupont Plastic. Various final surface protective finishes are required for these materials. The final assembly shall have a protective finish lusterless black in color. No deviations to the drawing materials, treatment, or finish will be permitted. The contractor shall fabricate the item in accordance with U.S.G. drawings, inspect them in accordance with U.S.G. Quality Assurance Provisions (QAP), and package them in accordance with U.S.G. Special Packaging Instructions (SPI). The contractor must be able to sustain a delivery schedule of 250 Collapsible Buttstock Assemblies per month. There will be a First Article Test quantity and requirement to pass First Article prior to approval for full production. See Notes 1 and 26. Point of contact for this requirement is Ms. Joanne Cicarone, phone 973-724-4049, e-mail cicarone@pica.army.mil. Responses Must be received by October 28, 2004 by 3:30 PM local time.
