- The purpose of this amendment is to provide government responses to questions asked and extend the proposal due date. 1. QUESTIONS & RESPONSES: Question: Will the Pentagon supply the hardware needed for channel reception such as: Separate channe l feeds (type RF on coax connector, composite on RCA connector, S-video, etc.)? Tuners Video Switches? Response: The government will supply signal, but not hardware. Question: What does shall be retrieved mean (displayed in full resolution in a wind ow or saved in full resolution to a file)? Response: Display in full resolution. Question: What does the following mean: Users shall be able to specify the segment? Response: By providing a phrase or sentence, the system should identify every occurr ence and highlight it in full script. Question: Please elaborate on PowerPoint export feature (how are assets, video and text, to be represented in PowerPoint)? Response: The system should allow copy of video clips into PPT files. Question: Would a SMIL-based file embedded in Power Point or a Word document be sufficient for this requirement? Response: No. A running dialogue should be presented with the requested phrases automatically highlighted. Question: Do not understand power outage - How d oes channel reception work without power? Response: The government interprets the question as backup or power supply. The interruption of power to the main system. Question: Do we have to record video separate from indexing and translation as a separat e process? Response: No. Video indexing can be a by-product of indexed sound. Question: Does recording during a system/power outage mean offsite/outsourced recording? Response: No. On-site. Question: In a system outage, is a redundant indexing sy stem needed to process the backlog? Response: No. Question: What level of fault tolerance is required? Response. The government interprets the question to mean level or error or accuracy. The fault tolerance should be minimal in capture or system operation. Question: What is acceptable downtime? Response: Acceptable downtime of 12-24 hours maximum. 2 . The due date is changed to: 14 SEP 04, 12:00 PM (NOON).
