- Description
- The U.S. Army Chemical Materials Agency is seeking a dialogue with industry to discuss innovative and environmentally sound methods of transferring a major source of DETA (Diethylenetriamine) to industry. The chemical is contained within a stockpile of Decontamination Solution Number 2 (DS2). The DS2 is composed of mixture of 70% Diethylenetriamine, 28% Ethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether, and 2% NaOH. The Army would like to discuss transfer of the ownership of some/all of the stockpile to industry fo r reuse/reprocessing. The DS2 stockpile is stored at a Hazardous Material Enclave located at the former Seneca Army Depot in Romulus, New York. Approximately 1.7 million gallons of DS2 are in storage and are contained in 4 DOT shippable configurations (t otal packaged gross weight of approximately 22 million pounds). The material is approximately 16 years old and is being offered to industry because the Army is now employing alternate decontaminating solutions. The Government would like to transfer the D S2 to industry as quickly as possible. The actual amount to be transferred and its schedule for removal from the Enclave site could be negotiable. This is a market survey and not a contracting action. Interested parties should contact Charles A. Comaty, 410-436-3750, e-mail: charles.comaty@apg.army.mil
