- Description
- The Bureau of Land Management is soliciting for bids for the following project: Furnishing labor, equipment, supplies and materials to upgrade trail heads and trails. Some of the trail work will be in isolated roadless areas with the only access being by foot or horseback. No motorized equipment will be allowed on some trails. Work will include aggregate surfacing, furnishing and placing boulders, leveling parking areas, and digging drain ditches. The project is scheduled to be advertised on or after October 1, 2004. A prebid site tour is offered for the project. The tour will meet on the county road at the Colorado Mountain College Roaring Fork Campus - Spring Valley at 3000 County Road 114 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. This campus is 7 miles from Glenwood Springs on the road to Aspen. The following link shows a map detailing the meeting point: http://www.coloradomtn.edu/maps/map-svc.html. The tour will begin promptly at 9 am, October 6, 2004. The site tour is expected to take two days. Those attending the site tour are expected to be in good physical condition capable of walkng over difficult terrain at high elevations for several miles. Due to the extent of this tour it will not be practical for the "group" to wait for anyone that is not capable of keeping up the pace of the "group". Those attending are expected to brng 4-wheel drive vehicles, proper footwear, appropriate clothing for changing weather conditions, and enough food and water for an entire day of hiking and driving. The first area to be toured will be the S. Rim Trail. The hike alone could take as long as 6 to 8 hours. After the S. Rim Trail part of the tour has been completed the schedule for touring the remaining portion of the contract areas will be discussed and formulated with those in attendance. The project is estimated at below $100,000.00 and offers will be accepted through November 1, 2004 via fax at (970)244-3130 or mail at USDI BLM EFO, 2815 H Road, Grand Junction, Colorado, or via "http://ideasec.nbc.gov".
