The Microscope System that DEA acquires must meet the following criteria: The Comparison Bridge must be able to switch from superimposition to side-by-side imaging with a single push of a button; have the ability to switch from a full field of view to side-by-side or superimposition with the single push of a button; be able to switch from a full left to full right field of view with a single push of a button; have a built-in tilting binocular tube with angle adjustments from 5 degrees to 35 degrees; be capable of making a magnification adjustment on one side of the bridge by plus or minus 4 percent; be capable of being controlled from a central control panel with all controls at or below the objective level; be capable of being controlled from a remote device; have a magnification changer built in and activated from a single button; and have illuminator mounts that are graduated for reproducible settings in theta, the z-direction, and horizontal positioning. The Microscope Stand must contain a RS 232 port for connecting directly to a computer or other data recording device such as the Palm; contain the necessary power supply for z-direction for 255 mm; contain two motorized x-y stages with transmitted light capabilities; be capable of synchronous movement of the stages in the x-, y-, and z-directions with the push of a single button; have a low positioned central control module that includes controls for the switches for full field left, full field right, side-by-side, superimposition, magnification changer, stage movement in x-, y-, and z-directions, and synchronous movement of the stages; be capable of accepting transmitted light accessories; have a 6-place coded nosepiece with objective correlated speeds in the x-, y-, and z-directions; and offer Telecentric Plan Apo chromatically corrected objectives with fixed magnifications where each objective has its own iris diaphragm. The microscope nosepiece must have objective threading that allows mounting standard microscope objectives for higher magnifications. The requirement will be awarded in accordance with the policies and procedures as set forth in FAR 13.106-1(b). No hard copy of the solicitation is available.
