Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM), Infantry Combat Equipment Program Office, Quantico, VA, has a requirement for a Combat Desert Jacket (CDJ) to be worn by Marines. The Combat Desert Jacket (CDJ) is an outer garment designed for Marines operating in the unique environment of the desert. The design and use of commercially available fabrics will allow the fielding of a jacket that protects the Marine from the desert environment while not impacting his ability to conduct operations. Desert weather conditions are typified by intense sand storms, temperature changes of up to forty degrees difference between night and day, and moderate rainfall. The characteristics of this desert MARPAT jacket are that it is specifically designed for the desert and will provide the wearer: Moisture management and breath ability Freedom of movement Increased protection from desert storms (water repellency and sand storms) Minimal impact on combat load Anti odor, anti bacteria, anti static MARCORSYSCOM plans to award firm-fixed price Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) type contract(s) with up to four offerors for an initial procurement of 200 jackets for testing. Following testing, one option will be exercised on the contract that provides the best value solution to the Government. The requirement will be for an estimated 257,900 CDJs over the five-year ordering period of the contract. This requirement is subject to the Berry Amendment (10 USC 2533 a) and the NAICS code is 315228. All questions and comments on this draft solicitation shall be submitted in writing by close of business on 22 October 2004 to Marine Corps Systems Command, Assistant Commander for Contracts, Attn: CTQ3SB, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA 22134.
