INTERESTED PARTIES MAY REGISTER ONLINE BY OCTOBER 11, 2004. REGISTRATION IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT AT THE CHECK-IN BOOTH ON SITE, PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE ENTRANCE. To register, click www.roomersinc.com. For additional information, contact the industry day registration number at 703.518.0233. The Department of State, Overseas Buildings Operations, continues to expand the base of firms with which it does business. To that end, OBO will host its third Industry Day on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Ronald Reagan Building. Industry Day hours are: 10:00am ? 4:00pm. OBO uses an industry-wide, cross-section of services, equipment, construction and operations for its embassy facilities around the world. The technical expertise that is required runs the gamut of the building industry. Real estate service providers are used in support of acquisitions and disposal actions (including brokerage, marketing and appraisals). Planning, architectural, engineering, interior design and general construction services are used, as well as maintenance services and generator, roof and fire protection systems replacements. We are interested in construction materials and building components that promote sustainability and high performance, and other new technology. There is a growing demand to supply building components and systems that can withstand blast and bio-chemical environmental security and operational compromise. After selection for a contract or after pre-qualification for any contracts that require a security clearance, firms and vendors must have or be able to obtain a facility security clearance. The Department of State will sponsor those selected or pre-qualified firms that do not possess facility clearances.
