Description

In response to Iraqs unemployment levels, a growing informal sector and the challenges surrounding private sector growth and employment generation, USAID/Iraq will procure technical assistance to help Iraq develop a more market-friendly environment for broad-based economic opportunity and business expansion. The program is designed to help Iraq achieve the capacity for sustained, higher economic growth rates that are private sector-led, employment generating and equitable. The contractor will work with USAID, other relevant U.S. and coalition entities, and appropriate Iraqi ministries and additional Iraqi counterparts to implement a three-year base contract (with two one-year option periods). The contractor will develop and implement international best practices aimed at improving the environment for private sector-led growth in the areas of Restructuring/Privatization; Investment Promotion; Trade Policy and Market Access; Development of Business Management Skills; Micro-Lending and SME-related activities; Capital Market Development; and the design and implementation of a Grant and Loan Trust Fund. In doing so, the contractor will focus on promoting private sector and business related activities in order to promote trade and investment in Iraq, thereby allowing the Iraqi economy to enjoy greater growth rates and to generate employment opportunities.
