Description
The Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) Program is preparing to award a contract on a sole source basis to Northrop Grumman Corporation for the procurement of LAIRCM prime mission equipment and associated support equipment and consumables for installation on active duty Air Force C-130 aircraft. Additionally, this contract action will include efforts to modify the C-130 installation design to fit C-130H1 aircraft, as well as contain options to perform Group A installation on up to 12 C-130 aircraft. The AN/AAQ-24 system is already developed, tested, and proven to meet C-130 protection requirements as spelled out in the Multi-Command Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures Operational Requirements Document 314-92. Northrop Grumman has received Configuration Control Board approval to modify C-130 aircraft for LAIRCM installation on C-130H3 and C-130H2 aircraft. The first C- 130H3 was modified and delivered to AMC in Apr 04 and the first C-130H2 was delivered to the Reno Air National Guard in Aug 04. Northrop Grumman is scheduled to deliver a LAIRCM modified HC-130(H)N to the Alaska Air National Guard in Aug 05. Northrop is currently on contract to deliver a total of 16 LAIRCM modified aircraft to the Air Force and Air National Guard. The LAIRCM C-130 program has successfully completed DT/OT and IOT+E testing. Procuring the installation kits, spares and LAIRCM equipment from Northrop Grumman will meet multi-user requirements for interchangeable system hardware and meet additional requirements for a common IR countermeasures solution between ANG, AFRES and AMC aircraft. For subcontract opportunities, small businesses may contact Northrop Grumman, Attn: Mr. Bruce Schneider at 1-410-765-0563 or email at bruce.schneider@ngc.com For more information on F01C2093--LAIRCM C-130 Installation please refer to http://www.pixs.wpafb.af.mil/pixslibr/F01C2093/F01C2093.asp
