Description
The Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) plans to vacate existing office space (total 835,000 square feet) located on the southeast and northwest corners of the intersection of El Segundo Blvd. and Aviation Blvd. (Areas A and B) in El Segundo, Ca and move into new facilities (aprox. total 706,350 sq ft) currently under construction on the northwest property (Area B) The new facilities will consist of three multi-story office buildings. Starting as early as May 2005, the Air Force (AF) will be relocating approximately 2,900 people. All personnel relocation will take place within a five- mile radius of 2400 East El Segundo Blvd. in El Segundo, Ca. The first relocation will involve approximately 600 people moving from five buildings into a new 146,352 square feet office building called the Consolidated Base Support Complex (CBSC). The second relocation will involve moving approximately 2,300 people from seven, two-story buildings and one, six-story office building into two-new buildings comprising 560,000 square feet called the Systems Acquisition Management Support (SAMS) complex. The furniture, both systems and stand-alone types, left in all of the vacated buildings will be made available to other government organizations to remove and use at their facilities - other government organizations will have 10 days once a building is vacated to remove furniture. After the other government organizations have removed the furniture they want to use, the remaining furniture will need to be removed and moved to the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service (DRMS), 779 Stethem Road Building 513, Port Hueneme, CA 93043. The Contractor shall dispose of furniture that DRMS cannot accept. Both the CBSC and SAMS buildings will be made available for the Contractor to install furniture and move people in phases. The Contractor shall adjust their schedules for manufacturing, installation etc. as many times as necessary to reflect all critical paths in the redevelopment construction schedules. This risk should be priced into the proposal. The Air Force will not be liable for any damages due to the construction schedule changes. Once the Air Force takes beneficial occupancy/final acceptance of CBSC, the Contractor has 60 calendar days from date of written Air Force Contracting Officer notification to completely move organizations into CBSC, and 90 calendar days from date of written notice to completely move organizations into the SAMS buildings. A complete move is defined as installing all of the furniture ordered under this contract for each building, providing any ancillary services as described in this SOW, and removal and disposal of all excess furniture from the vacated buildings.
