Description
COLD WEATHER TRIGGER FINGER MITTEN INSERT. The Product Manager- Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM-CIE) at the U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command, Soldier Systems Center, Natick, MA has a need to identify possible commercially avai lable cold weather trigger finger mitten inserts to replace the U. S. Army (U.S.A) Mitten Inserts, Cold Weather, Trigger Finger (MIL-M-809F). The U.S.A. is conducting a Market Investigation seeking product information and/or samples of innovative off-the- shelf or non-developmental solutions for evaluation in the year 2005 to replace the Military standard Trigger finger mitten insert. The intent of this market survey is to see a modern version of the insert using the latest technologies. The trigger finge r mitten insert must be a commercial off the shelf (COTS) item that will not require additional research and development. This item is to be worn under Cold weather trigger finger mitten shells, Extreme cold (Arctic Mitts) mitten set, or alone. The price of the current item is estimated to be no greater than $6.00. The product shall meet the following critical performance requirements: (1) Ambidextrous. (2) Minimum service life of 120 days and have a minimum shelf life of 5 years without being affec ted by mold, fungus, rot, etc. (3) Provide environmental protection for extreme cold temperature ranges. (5) Subdued in color. (6) Weight: 4.1 ounces maximum. (7) Provide maximum breathability, flexibility, comfort, and warmth. (8) Quick drying. (9) Maximum of two sizes to properly fit the central 90% of the military population based on the 5th percentile female through the 95th percentile male soldier hand measurements. (10) Extreme Cold Weather Mitten Set and Trigger Finger Mitten Shell compatibili ty. The following objective performance requirements are desired: (1) Water repellency. (2) Wind Resistant. (3) Flame Retardancy. Interested firms are requested to submit information on their product(s) within thirty (30) days following the publicatio n of this synopsis. Interested sources shall include information detailed in the CBD Note 25 regarding a firms experience, personnel, and facilities. Information should include, but not limited to, product cost, technical information (e.g. physical prop erties, performance characteristics, test methodology (e.g. ASTM, AATCC), certification/ compliance (warranty terms, relevant company background/experience, ISO 9000 certification, and any other information that the company believes demonstrates the value of their product(s) and ability to meet the requirements. Companies are also encouraged to submit samples for evaluation. Any information/samples submitted will not be returned, and no payment will be made by the Government for such samples.
