Wind Lakes Trail No. 24 Construction/Reconstruction on the Powell Ranger District, Clearwater National Forest, Idaho County, Idaho. Work involves 0.3 miles of new construction and 2.6 miles of reconstruction. Included is construction of puncheon bridges (total about 300 lineal feet), turnpike (total 100 ft.) and numerous log water bars. No motorized equipment (including motorized rock drills) will be allowed on this wilderness contract. This contract may be advertised in 2005. The project is located on the Powell Ranger District and is in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness. From Mile Post 164 on Highway 12, take the Elk Summit Road, No. 111 for one mile to the Tom Beal Road No. 362. The Tom Beal trailhead is 9.8 miles up this road. The Wind Lakes Trail Project is three miles from the Tom Beal Trailhead. Estimated price range: $25,000 - $100,000. Est. start work August 30, 2005. THESE PROJECTS ARE POSSIBLE, BUT IT IS NOT CERTAIN THEY WILL BE DONE BY CONTRACT. ALL INTERESTED QUOTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW THE SITE THIS FALL, AS THIS PROJECT MAY BE ADVERTISED PRIOR TO SNOW MELT IN THE SPRING OF 2005.
