Description
Lakehurst Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst New Jersey has a requirement for the following item in support of the Aircraft Landing and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Program, Visual Landing System: Long Range Line-up System (LRLS), sixty (60) each Tilt Sensor Spares P/N-RLG0959-02. The Long Range Line-up System (LRLS) is used to guide approaching aircrafts to the proper landing spot on aircraft carriers for safe landings. This procurement is to provide spare tilt sensors, critical to ALRE components, used for stabilizing the optics in the LRLS for which Raytheon is the manufacturing contractor. The existing tilt sensor is obsolete and a new design is currently being prototyped and tested at Raytheon Technical Service Company. The Government intends to procure this item under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(C) (1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1. Raytheon Technical Services Co. is currently the sole manufacturer of the LRLS. They own the proprietary design rights to the system and all its components, and solely possess the technical data necessary to deliver the required tilt sensors. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which may be considered by the government in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the government not to open the requirement to competition based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
