- Description
- The US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, Armament, Research, Development, Engineering Center (RDECOM-ARDEC), Picatinny, is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources for a Diode Pumped Solid State Breech Mounted Laser Ignition System in support of the Unit of Action (UA) Non- Line of Sight Cannon (NLOS-C) vehicle. The NLOS-C vehicle is a 20 ton 155mm self-propelled howitzer. The anticipated effort is for the design and fabrication of a prototype diode pumped solid state laser system, associated models (preferably Pro/Engineer) and analysis, test results, and test data that will be used to verify and validate the maturity of the contractor's proposed design. The contractor’s proposed design shall be capable of withstanding the high shock and vibration loading experienced during gun firing, vehicle mobility and transportation. The contractor’s proposed design must be rugged enough to meet standard military design and military usage (all means of transportation, temperature/humidity extremes, E3, INR, NBC, etc). The contractor’s proposed design shall be capable of demonstrating reliability, durability, and repeatable performance, at rates of fire up to six (6) rounds per minute. The contractor must be able to demonstrate that their existing design can meet all capabilities claimed in their proposal. The following information would be beneficial and could be used to help support and verify the Contractor's proposed design and capabilities: a) drawings showing interface and/or line drawings (electronic preferred) b) applicable test report (s) to include shock/vibration tests conducted c) analysis and modeling d) electrical power requirements. No classified information should be submitted with this response. Proprietary information must be appropriately marked and will be safeguarded as marked. The preferred response format is Portable Document Format (PDF), with concepts and design solid models in an electronic format compatible with Pro/Engineer. The capabilities sought include analysis, design, development, fabrication, integration, test and evaluation of proposed design, as well as facilities conducive to assembling breadboard and subsystem prototype hardware, electronics and/or software. This is a sources sought notice for planning purposes only. This is not a solicitation and does not obligate the Government to issue a solicitation. Interested parties should respond by 08 December 2004 to Kevin Puma, Contract Specialist, US Army, TACOM- ARDEC, AMSTA-AQ-APE, Picatinny, NJ 07806- 5000; kpuma@pica.army.mil. Include with your response, The Company's name, address, and point of contact with telephone number and e-mail address, size of business (small/large) and team members. Any files intended to be submitted that have been compressed using Zip software must have their file extensions changed to ".zip-a" in order to be accepted through our security firewalls. Please submit information in accordance with government-wide Numbered Note 25.
