Description
Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, has a requirement for approximately 200 air flasks to remove old paint, degrease, phosphate coat and then paint the air flasks in accordance with applicable documents. Upon completion of painting, the air flasks must pass the following tests: (a) Perform a visual inspection of the air flasks to ensure that there is no evidence of runs, sags, blisters, orange peel, specs, bumps or roughness. (b) Test to ensure that the paint has fully cured by saturating a lint free cloth with MEK and wipe the coated surface. The MEK should not soften or remove any paint. (c) Test the adhesion of the paint by pressing a 6 inch strip of pressure sensitive tape. (No. 250 manufactured by Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company or equivalent) in firm contact with the painted surface and wait 10 seconds. Grasp the free end of the tape and rapidly strip it from the painted surface by pulling back at approximately 180-degree angle. The tape shall show no evidence of removal or loosening of the paint. (d) Perform a hydrostatic test of the Air Flask for 3 minutes at 4500 psi. Inspect the paint after the test for defects. The contractor shall nickel plate the air flasks in accordance with applicable documents as required. Delivery will be F.O.B. Destination to NUWDIVNPT. Individual Task Orders will be placed specifying what requirements need to be performed. This effort shall commence upon date of award for a period of three (3) years thereafter. This contract will be in Indefinite Delivery Purchase Order using Simplified Acquisition Procedures with Firm Fixed Price Provisions and 100% set aside for small business.
